Q: Taking Lamictal for Migraines
I have been taking Lamictal for the treatment of migraines. Is
there any information on the use of it with migraines and it rating.
Dear Ms. T' --
There is a randomized trial versus placebo that says it's not effective (abstract),
from 1997. There are some "open trials" (abstract
1; abstract
2) reporting much more success -- but that means no placebo group to be sure
you're really seeing something more than the provider and the patient's wish
it will work (which, mind you, may actually have quite an impact...). By
the way, these results popped up with a search on Pub Med using "lamotrigine
migraine" as the search term. You can access Pub Med yourself, and
there are some hints on
using it on my site.
